Improving the competitiveness of dairy products of Ukrainian producers in accordance with European standards

Abstract

This article reveals the features of improving the quality of dairy products of Ukrainian producers in accordance with European quality standards. The paper deals with the analysis of conformity of milk raw producers to high standards of safety and quality the world leading producers meet. The quality of raw milk bought by processing enterprises from the agrarian enterprises and the price mechanism of milk processing enterprises is investigated. According to the research results, milk supply shortage and its low competitiveness and quality the are the most important problems in Ukrainian dairy market. A comprehensive assessment of dairy production by Ukrainian enterprises  reveals that the studied enterprises have the potential for raw milk production, but they need investment and government support. It is established that the efficiency of dairy farmers depends on the competitiveness of products offered to consumers. Assessment of the raw milk competitiveness is necessary to make informed decisions on dairy products manufacture and sale in Ukraine and abroad as well as for reducing the purchase of similar imported products and improving the quality and competitiveness of raw materials. It is proved that the national milk market can be maintained only by highly efficient producers who have the opportunity to create all necessary technological conditions for its production, and to constantly monitor its quality. In addition, it is necessary to focus on creating high-quality and technological dairy farms that meet modern requirements for milk production. Cooperation of agricultural enterprises, family farms and raw milk processing enterprises, taking into account the experience of developed countries, will solve the problem of high quality raw milk production  and give the opportunity to make a profit
